Firstly we would like to express our sincere thanks to all of our great employees, customers, suppliers, and clients for the support shown during what has been an immensely challenging and stressful time for everyone not just here in the UK, but across the World. We really have found ourselves in uncharted and scary waters, and without the understanding, patience, and dedication of everyone in and around our businesses, these challenges will, I am certain, have been overwhelming.
We, like everyone else, have been relying on the updates and information coming from the UK and Welsh Governments. Whilst these have been frequent, they have often not included the level of detail required by employees and businesses alike to ensure that we are all able to act quickly and decisively to respond to the threat that COVID-19 brings to us all.
Last night, following the initial broad sweep announcements made by PM Johnson, it was later confirmed that bicycle shops and internet retailers are amongst only a remaining handful of businesses that the Government wish to remain open. This step recognises the important part that bike shops and cycling can play in enabling our essential workers to get safely to and from their workplaces without putting themselves in harm's way. Images from London have shown that rush hour tubes, trains and buses remain overcrowded despite the tighter controls brought in to restrict movement and large gatherings. Cycling provides a viable, easily attainable and easily sustainable option for our NHS staff and emergency services.
I am pleased that by remaining open and available for our clients, Cycle Solutions has been able to ensure that we can continue to get bikes and cycling safety equipment out to our customers across the UK. I know that yesterday, for instance, we received orders from employees of Metropolitan Police, Scottish Ambulance Service, several NHS Trusts, Public Health England, and Gwent Police to name a few of the essential services who are working so hard to keep us all safe. On top of that, we had orders from employees of some of those organisations like Ocado, EDF Energy, Transport for London and Network Rail working around the clock to keep our essential services going.
We wouldn’t be able to continue to provide our services if it wasn’t for the great team we have at Cycle Solutions. The vast majority of our team are now working from their homes so that we can continue to provide customer service, advice, and business support to our customers and their employers. Our team of dedicated warehouse and workshop technicians are working hard to get bikes assembled and out to customers as quickly as possible. The small but very committed team in our Swansea bike shop is also offering free bike tune-ups to all NHS employees, as we collectively try to do our little bit to make their immensely difficult tasks that tiny bit more manageable.
We will continue to monitor developments and advice from the NHS and Government, all of the while ensuring that the health and wellbeing of our own employees, our customers, suppliers, and the wider public remain at the forefront of our minds and business decisions.
Thanks again to everyone for your continued support at this difficult time.
Stay safe,
Steve
